I made this track for a challenge in the Chiptunes=WIN group called 4I-4T-4U. You had to use one instrument per channel and each channel could only use 1 table (no mixing tables between channels). I tried to stay within those parameters as much as possible, but I had to fudge it a bit here and there in this final release so the instruments didn't sound so bland. Still, 95% of this song is still made under those constraints. I originally called this song "A My First LSDJ Wasteland" to poke fun at the fact that many "My First LSDJ" tracks are typically pretty basic with one or maybe two instruments per channel and a very basic song structure. Luckily, you'll never have to hear my first LSDJ song. ;3

I was trying to go for a darker sound on this track. While writing this, I thought back to the Stagediver and nullsleep performances I'd seen at Blip Fest 2011 and 8static last year and tried to make something in a similar vein. This was the third song I finished for this EP.

"The CMB [Cosmic Microwave Background] is a snapshot of the oldest light in our Universe, imprinted on the sky when the Universe was just 380,000 years old. It shows tiny temperature fluctuations that correspond to regions of slightly different densities, representing the seeds of all future structure: the stars and galaxies of today."
